MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT, SHIRLEY PORTER 

I hope that you enjoy your visit through the pages of our site. As you will see through photos and testimonials, this initiative has touched the lives of many children throughout our state. We have witnessed incredible success stories.

As a former kindergarten teacher and retired psychotherapist, I know that a positive self-concept is not just a "feel good" issue. It affects many aspects of a child’s and an adult’s decisions and relationships. It is a proven fact that the opportunities and the encouragement we give our children today will contribute to their success in the future. 

As we explain to the children, "inside every child there’s a place filled with sunshine". Those of us involved with The Sunshine Foundation feel they deserve every opportunity to experience it.
